Description Plagiopteron is a genus of flowering plants in the family Melastomataceae. It is native to tropical regions of Africa and Madagascar. The genus consists of about 20 species of shrubs and small trees. The most commonly cultivated species is Plagiopteron suaveolens, also known as Cape myrtle.
