Description Hewittia is a small genus of flowering plants that belongs to the family Gesneriaceae. The genus is named after Dr. Elmer Drew Merrill’s friend, Dr. Ernest Clayton Hewitt. There are only two known species of Hewittia, both of which are native to Southeast Asia.
