Care Guide
Water: Petrocodon plants prefer moist but well-draining soil. Water them regularly during the growing season and reduce watering in the winter.
Fertilization: Feed Petrocodon plants with a balanced fertilizer every two weeks during the growing season.
Soil: These plants grow best in well-draining soil that is rich in organic matter. A pH range of 6.0 to 7.0 is ideal.
Sunlight: Petrocodon plants prefer partial shade or dappled sunlight. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can scorch the leaves.
Hardiness Zones: Petrocodon plants are hardy in USDA zones 7 to 10.
Common Pests & Diseases
Petrocodon plants are susceptible to spider mites, whiteflies, and aphids. These pests can be controlled with insecticidal soap or neem oil. Root rot can occur if the soil is too wet, so be sure to allow the soil to dry out slightly between waterings. Powdery mildew can also be a problem in humid conditions. This can be treated with a fungicide.
Habitat
Petrocodon plants are found in rocky areas, meadows, and forests in China and Vietnam. They grow at elevations of 1000 to 3700 meters above sea level.
